e-commerce website strategy, design and implementation

Imagine selling your products via a storefront that never closes, to customers all over the world, without having to pay rental or labour costs....

Are you using the web to sell goods and services to customers?  If not, you may be missing out on one of the most lucrative and cost-effective sales channels of all!

One of the great advantages of the web is the ability to sell products and services online, even when you are asleep - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - to any location in the world!

And there's no need to pay for sales staff in your online store, because order processing and payment is automated.  All you have to do is fulfil the product.

It's clear that e-commerce is a great option for any business that sells goods and services, yet the uptake in Australia has been a little slow.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, only 23.7% of businesses use the web to receive orders from customers (up from 20.9% in 2005-06).  Only 12.2% of all these sales were received via a shopping cart-enabled website. (Source: 8129.0 - Business Use of Information Technology, 2007-08I).  These are fairly low percentages when you consider the technological age that we are living in.

But the landscape is changing rapidly - online commerce is increasing exponentially, broadband connections are getting quicker, and people are becoming more comfortable transacting online.  Businesses will need to change in order to meet the challenges presented by this shift.

Isn't it time that your business started selling products online?

Blue Train implements custom-designed and fully-featured shopping cart and e-commerce  solutions, enabling your business to accept secure, real-time online payments for goods and services.

What do you mean by 'e-commerce'?

According to Wikipedia, Electronic Commerce, commonly known as e-commerce or eCommerce, consists of the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks.

How do I get an e-commerce website?

Blue Train uses the Big Commerce shopping cart and e-commerce software, an inexpensive, yet feature-rich 'software-as-a-service' package created by Australian company Interspire, to build its e-commerce solutions.

Big Commerce is flexible, easy-to-use software for maintaining your storefront directly from your browser.  You can read more about its features on the Big Commerce website

Our e-commerce website design and implementation service includes the following:

  • Big Commerce installation and configuration
  • Fully-customised design templates integrated with Big Commerce
  • Configuration of merchant accounts and payment gateways
  • Initial setup of products and inventory in the system
  • Search engine optimisation to ensure that the website appears in the major search engines
  • 1 day on-site consulting, including a detailed training session for store administrators within your organisation
  • Provision of instructional documentation
  • 3 months email support post-delivery
  • Priority support (if required - additional cost)

How much will this cost?

Whilst some specific client requirements may impact upon the cost (ie. number of products), the standard price for a full e-commerce website strategy, design and implementation is $6,995 ex GST ($7,695 inc GST)

This fee is for a e-commerce website implementation in Adelaide, South Australia.  Blue Train is available to undertake e-commerce website implementations interstate but the cost of travel (single day for on-site consulting and training) is borne by the client.

Note that there is a monthly subscription fee payable to Big Commerce after implementation.  This monthly fee ranges from US$24.95 to US$149.95 per month, depending on the number of products that you wish to sell.
